August 2018 DSUG: In Review

The Denver Sitecore community is amazing!

Last night's DSUG had a great turnout at the Blndspt offices in downtown Denver. A big thanks is due to Mike Reynolds and Toby Gutierrez for bringing some MVP star power and fantastic topics to the stage.

Mike's presentation "Forms to Riches" provided a solid technical look into Sitecore 9 Experience Forms - the pros, the cons, and the what/how/why of customizing the product to suite your needs.

Toby showed us a glimpse of how spatial search works with Solr and Sitecore. Solr supports native indexing for spatial-based data, and provides very performant methods for running searches against that data - think location services, heatmaps, and other advanced mapping functionality. All this is out of the box with Sitecore 9.

The (young) Denver SUG has grown quiet a bit in 2018, and definitely confirms Denver's love of Sitecore. For all the latest on the group, including info on our quarterly meetings, check out the Denver SUG Meetup page.

A few photos from last night:

  • The great space was provided by Blndspt.

  • Toby (reluctantly?) introducing the SUG.

  • Mike laying it down.

  • Toby detailing SQL Server spatial integration.

  • A captive audience.

  • More detail on Solr spatial search.
